Bohol seeks facility for mental health care

A boy from Bohol province has been suffering from a mental disorder for almost ten years.

The boy was abandoned by his parents at a young age after they learned of his condition.

Bing Casenas of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, said the agency has no facility to shelter him but plans are underway to place the boy in a mental facility in the New Bohol Gallares Hospital in Cortes town.

The Bohol provincial government is pushing for the establishment of a facility for people mental health issues.

This requires approval of the Department of Health central office.

Kit Nemenzo Balane of The Bohol Chronicle said it is the government’s responsibility to spearhead the setting up of the facility with the support of the private sector.
