Anti-illegal fishing task force seizes 49 stingrays in Mandaue

The Cebu Provincial Anti-Illegal Fishing Task Force confiscated 49 pieces of stingray from a wet market in barangay Centro, Mandaue City today.

Marcelo Go, task force head, said their wet market inspection at 2:45 a.m. was the first since October.

The sale of sting rays is prohibited under provincial ordinance 2015-21.

The task force confiscated 55 kilograms of stingray, the biggest of which measured 16 inches wide and 18 inches long from head to tail.

Go said the vendor will be fined P3,000 and am additional P1,000 per kilogram of confiscated sting ray,.
