A FORMER public school teacher was arrested after he was caught allegedly sniffing shabu by the roadside in barangay Poblacion, Ginatilan town, southwest Cebu.

Police were  responding to an armed person alarm when they arrested 35-year-old Jefferson Carteciano Gornez.  Police said Gornez was dismissed from service last year after a criminal complaint was filed against him for beating his pupils using an electric wire.

Two parents filed a case for violation of child abuse or violation of the Republic Act 7610, otherwise known as Special Protection of Children against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.

Last Thursday night  operatives of the Ginatilan Police Station received a report that an armed man was spotted at the roadside.

Police later found Gornez sitting on a bamboo chair  sniffing shabu using an improvised tooter.

Police said they seized from the man three sachets of suspected shabu and a replica of a 9mm caliber pistol.
