AFTER WINNING the vacant WBO super-bantamweight title against Mexican slugger Cesar Juarez, Nonito “Filipino Flash” Donaire Jr. said he is willing to give the former a rematch.

The 33-year-old Donaire Jr. said  in a report on Philboxing.com that he won’t deny Juarez a shot at a rematch.

Both put on a spectacular showdown in Puerto Rico last Saturday, where the Filipino walked away with a unanimous-decision victory.

“I will definitely give him a rematch,” said Donaire Jr. in the aftermath of the match that is a candidate for Fight of the Year. “I’m not taking anything away from him.”

All of the three judges scored it at 116-110, 116-110 and 117-109, all in favor of Donaire Jr.

With the win, Donaire Jr. improved his record to 36 wins with 23 knockouts and three losses while Juarez suffered his fourth loss with 17 wins with 13 knockouts.

Before going up against Donaire Jr., Juarez fought  Juan Carlos Sanchez, whom he beat via unanimous decision in Sinaloa, Mexico for the WBO international super-bantamweight title.  That win earned him a title eliminator slot that eventually turned out to be a world title fight after the erstwhile WBO super-bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux was stripped of his title due to inactivity.

Sanchez is set to fight “Prince” Albert Pagara on Feb. 27 in Cebu at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

“If I had more time to train and more experience, I would have won,” said Juarez.
