Canillas faces Baluarte in hometown in Toledo City

ARJAN “Spartan” Canillas will fight in front of his home town folks tonight as he spearhead’s ALA Boxing Gym’s “Duelo sa Toledo” at the Marcelo Barba Sports Complex, Toledo City, southwest Cebu.

Canillas who is unbeaten at 14 fights with nine knockouts and two draws will face Eusebio “Raging Bull” Baluarte for 10-rounds non-title bout.

Canillas, one of ALA Boxing Gym’s promising prospects is on a three-fight winning streak following his split draw decision against Gadwin Tubigon last 2013 in the fight that was held in

Tagbilaran, Bohol. After that, 22-year old Canillas was able to rise in the Philippine rankings under the lightweight division and is now currently ranked second in his division.

Baluarte, meanwhile, holds a record of 19 wins with 12 knockouts along with 13 losses. The 29-year old Valencia, Bukidnon native have fought in Australia against Daniel Dawson for the PABA

Superwelterweight title where he lost via a fourth round TKO. He also fought for the GAB welterweight title but got defeated by Dennis Laurente and fought several times in Japan.

In the undercard, Canillas’ stable mate Boyce Sultan will face Pete Apolinar for eight rounds under the 124lbs division while Vicente Casido and Paul Varona will fight for four rounds. The rest of the fight card features Melchor Roda versus Ervin Yamo and Esneth Domingo and Tomas Rebusit. There will be a couple of amateur bouts before the main card.
