The Turang dance troupe from barangay Mabolo will perform in the Sinug sa Casa Gorordo on Monday at 2 p.m. at RAFI Eduardo Aboitiz Development Studies Center along Lopez Jaena Street, Parian, Cebu City.

The group led by Carolina Diola, niece of the late “beat keeper” Estelita “Nang Titang” Diola, will give visitors the chance to learn the Sinug steps.

This annual presentation is organized by the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. to continue the tradition of the Gorordo family and other households in Parian to perform Sinulog dances on Mondays after the Fiesta Señor as a prayer for the souls of their departed loved ones.

The house of the Gorordo family in Parian was acquired by the Aboitizes in 1979. Don Ramon Aboitiz, the founder of RAFI, converted the house to become a Casa Gorordo Museum for Cebuanos to see the history of Cebu.

“Nihangyo pud ang mga Gorordo nga padayunon ang tulumanon (The Gorordos also asked to continue their tradition),” Jocelyn Gerra, executive director of RAFI Culture and Heritage said.
