Tennis enthusiasts are set for another delight as Cebuana Lhuillier celebrates it’s 10th anniversary by organizing over 30 competition legs this year to help flourish the tennis grassroots program and refine their talents for national and international wars.

The Cebuana Lhuillier Age-Group Tennis Tournament will be kicking off it’s annual season today in three venues, the Citigreen Tennis Resort, Alta Vista and Pardo Tennis Club Inc.

Boosted by sports patron Jean Henri Lhuillier, the country’s widest youth tennis battle aims to help the young Filipino talents gain exposure as well as spark interest among the youth in the provinces and inspire big companies to enhance the sport in the country.

“More than a sports avenue Cebuana Lhuillier Age Group Tennis also advocates a total human formation of young tennis players by helping them reach their tennis career dreams. Be it to go professional or use as a platform for University schooling,” Lhuillier said.

In the past few years, the tournament has also helped blossomed the career of renowned tennis superstars such as 2009 Australian Boys Doubles Champion Francis Casey Alcantara, Southeast Asian Games silver medalist Jeson Patrombon and Oklahoma State University tennis scholar Jurence Mendoza.

Meanwhile, Cebuano Jan Godfrey Seno will look to get back on the winning track as he locks horns with the country’s top netters starting 9 a.m. today  at the Citigreen Tennis Resort.

It can be recalled that the 16-year-old Seno absorbed a heart-rending loss to Philippine No.3 Francis Casey Alcantara 1-6, 4-6 in the semifinal round of the Peugeot Philippine Tennis Open (PPTO) earlier this month.

A tough task will await Seno today as he is set to go up against young upstart and University of Cebu Webmasters (UC) product Ralph Daryl Alcordo.

Other Cebuanos who will join the war are 15-year-old Marc Nicole Suson, Norman Joseph Enriquez, Tiffany Claire Nocos, Elizabeth Abarquez and former Cebu Schools Athletics Foundation Inc.  gold medalist Shyne Villareal.
