Engineer slashes lover’s throat in spat over jealousy
An 18-year-old woman was seriously wounded after her throat was slashed by her boyfriend following a heated argument in barangay Putian, Bantayan town, northern Cebu.
Police said Angely Bawi-in and Enrique Espina, a mechanical engineer, fought because of jealousy.
The incident happened in the woman’s house around 9 a.m. last Sunday.
PO2 Michael Giganto said the man accused the woman of having a relationship with another man.
Espina was also upset that the woman did not answer his phone calls and text messages, said PO2 Giganto.
At the height of the argument, the man took a knife and slit the woman’s throat.
Fortunately, the woman was able to run and seek help. She was later brought to a hospital.
The man surrendered to the police after the incident.
Police said Espina will be charged with frustrated murder.
