ABOUT 38 out of 59 projects undertaken by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Mandaue City last year were being implemented.

Engr. Suzette Nwannaka, DPWH’s 6th district engineer, said six of these projects were suspended due to site problems.

“Like if we’re going to construct a building, new or rehabilitation, the building or the land is still occupied. We, in DPWH, we only construct and build to implement the project the clearing it supposed to be the local government,” she said.

Among the projects lined up are the repair of the 1st Mandaue-Mactan bridge worth P129.6 million and the upgrading of Ouano Avenue.

Nwannaka said they were not implemented to give way to the International Eucharistic Congress (IEC) last month.

This year, Nwannaka said they will work on the improvement and rehabilitation of flood control structures including dredging and re-channeling of the bridge wastewater along the Butuanon river which cost P49 million.
