POLICE are investigating the death of a 16-year-old boy who was found hanging dead in his house in Barangay Nangka, Balamban town, Cebu last Wednesday morning.
Police said the boy was found by his sister in a kneeling position. A blanket was tied around his neck and the other end was tied to a wooden beam.
The children’s parents were not around when the body was found.
The boy was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead.
SPO1 Marlon Pepito, investigator of the Balamban Police Station, said an investigation will be made to determine if there was foul play involved in the death.
SPO1 Pepito said investigators could not determine if there were signs of struggle in the death as the body was already untied when police arrived.
Investigators visited the school where the boy studied to find out how he was behaving days before the incident.
In Dalaguete town, an 18-year-old boy allegedly killed himself by hanging after he and his girlfriend broke up.
Jemuel Yap was found suspended from a branch of a tree with a nylon rope tied around his neck, said SPO1 Reynaldo Vidas.
Police said the boy might have been depressed after his repeated attempts to reconcile with his girlfriend failed.
