Rama mum on Pesquera’s admission

CEBU City Mayor Michael Rama was mum about former city councilor Joy Pesquera’s admission that she had a 10-year-relationship with him that ended last year.

“No comment,” was the mayor’s only text response to Cebu Daily News when asked for his thoughts.

Rama has been known to easily get angry when asked about his personal life, even reacting strongly to blind items about his rumored new girlfriend,  Catbalogan City Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan.

Pesquera said she knew her romantic relationship with Rama ended during the mayor’s State of the City Address (SOCA) last year, when Rama asked Uy-Tan to join him on stage for a photo opportunity with “the mayor’s family.”

Talks about their soured relationship resumed last month, when Pesquera decided to return the P20,000 calamity assistance on behalf of Rama to the City Treasurer’s Office.

She said she decided on her own to return the money to put the mayor on “equal footing” with Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan (BO-PK) councilors, who also returned their calamity aid.

Rama denied that he knew about it and disowned the return, saying it should not be considered valid.

Since Pesquera is still running as city councilor under Team Rama, they can still be seen attending the same events.

But Pesquera and Rama seldom talk to or stay near each other.
