Cebuana finishes 2nd in Pilipinas Duathlon
CEBUANA DUATHLETE Miscelle Gilbuena came up short on her quest for gold after she finished second in the Female Elite Category of the Pilipinas Duathlon Series 2016 last Sunday at Nuvali in Sta. Rosa Laguna.
Gilbuena, who hails from Bantayan Island, crossed the finish line with an official time of 1:18:45, just 40 seconds behind the eventual champion and rival Mirasol Abad, who clocked in at 1:17:45.
It was the second straight silver medal finish for Gilbuena, who also lost to Abad in the National Duathlon Championships (NDC) last year in Cebu.
In the men’s division, Standard Insurance’s Joey Delos Reyes (1:05:26) outlasted National Duathlon team member Rubeno Javier (1:05:27) via blood-tingling fashion after beating the latter by just a second to snatch the men’s laurel.
Meanwhile, 19-year old prodigy Chobie Duenas was the best Cebuano finisher in the men’s race, placing sixth in the race with a time of 1:08:58 while Cabancalan National High School’s Joland Olmilla breasted the finish line at 10th place after he timed in at 1:10:26.
