ACTION continues in the McDonald’s Jones Cup Chess Championships 2016 as the February competition gets underway today.
University of San Carlos Basic Education’s (USC-BED) Chris Aldritz Pondoyo dominated the January edition after accumulating six wins in two days of competition.
He is expected to join today’s tournament that features a six-round Swiss system format competition and features equally talented young wood pushers.
Aside from Pondoyo, other noted Cebuano junior wood pushers who will see action today are Adrian Basilgo, Reishi Boy Polan, Jeffu Dorog, Vic Glysen Derotas, Raniel Perandos, Jave Peteros, Laila Camel nadera, Marc Villarojo and Edsel Vosotros.
The tournament is held twice a month and is organized by McDonald’s Jones general manager Benjamin Picson Jr. and handled by veteran FIDE Arbiter Felix Poloyapoy Jr.
