THE Cebu Investment and Promotions Office (CIPO) plans to launch next month an economic fact book, which will incorporate a database on Cebu’s 44 towns and 7 cities, and the office’s official brochure.

Benjamin Yap, CIPO investment promotions officer, said during last week’s Kapihan sa Kapitolyo that the fact book will contain compilations of databases from different sources together with investment-related information.

He said databases will include that of National Competitive Council’s ease of doing business and those from other government agencies.

“It is actually a database for investors — how to do business with us, how much is the cost of doing business here, etc.,” he said.

He added that the fact book will be free of charge and that the database will be available on CIPO’s website once it will be completed.

Aside from the fact book, CIPO is also providing assistance to local government units to create their own Local Investment and Incentive Code. These towns include

Bogo City, Medellin and Daanbantayan which already came up with their drafts for final approval.

The CIPO will also launch the Cebu Midwest Community-Based Eco-tourism project in April.

The project aims to encourage sustainable tourism activities that will benefit not only the tourist but the environment and the community as well, while at the same time promoting the local economy.

The CIPO is currently in the branding phase of the project, which involves the tourism areas of five municipalities, namely Balamban, Aloguinsan, Alegria, Asturias, and Tabuelan.
