THE annual Marcelo “Loloy” Ruelan Memorial Open Chess Tournament will run from March 5-6 at the second level of Colonnade Mall in Colon St.
The tournament will award P5,000 to the champion while the second to fourth placers will receive P3,000; P2,000; and P1,000, respectively. The fifth to 10th placers will each get P500.
The tournament will use a seven-round Swiss system format with 25 minutes playing time and five second increment. To break ties, it will apply direct encounter, Buchholz System, and median Buchholz tie-break rules.
Registration is P200 and will open before the tournament starts at 1 p.m.
The event is sponsored by Rose Pharmacy Inc., Cebu Progress Marketing, Andrew Aznar, Dr. Darcy Tabotabo, Atty. Jose Mariano Tan, Carlos Tan and Ethi Dominguito.
