AT least 24 persons including a one-year-old girl suffered bruises after the truck they rode in fell on one side as it climbed an uphill road in the mountain barangay of Jaclupan in Talisay City on Tuesday morning.

SPO1 Junard Chiong of the Talisay City Traffic Division said one of the victims was brought to the Talisay District Hospital after she fainted. She was later discharged.

Truck driver Juna Samonio is now detained while police prepare a complaint for reckless imprudence resulting to multiple injuries against him.

Chiong said Samonio drove an Isuzu Elf with plate number GRB-769 from Balamban town in midwest Cebu heading to Barangay Tabunok in Talisay City on Tuesday morning.

While at the vicinity of Barangay Jaclupan located 10.2 kilometers from Cebu City,  Samonio slowed down to avoid an approaching vehicle. Chiong said the truck’s engine went off causing the vehicle to slip on the uphill road.

Samonio told police that he tried to warn his passengers and asked them to jump from the truck but it was already too late. The truck already fell on one side.
