Ombud-Visayas asked to probe JVR on his SALN

By: Ador Vincent S. Mayol March 03,2016 - 02:12 PM

TALISAY City Councilor Socrates Fernandez asked the Ombudsman-Visayas to investigate Talisay City Mayor Johnny delos Reyes on charges of dishonesty and misconduct.

In his complaint, Fernandez alleged that Delos Reyes only listed three relatives in government service in his 2014 Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN).

These are his son John Yre, the current city administrator and his daughter Irish and brother Joel who both work as his executive assistants. But records of the Human Resources Division showed that delos Reyes employed 15 relatives at Talisay City Hall, Fernandez claimed.

Fernandez also questioned the P2.8 million in “goodwill money” which delos Reyes declared in his 2014 SALN because of his failure to specify how he got this.

“Indeed, respondent JVR was being dishonest. He must be held liable for his unlawful acts in connection with his public office,” said Fernandez complaint which he filed at the Ombudsman-Visayas on Thursday morning.

Fernandez was accompanied by his lawyer Oscar Capacio.

Fernandez said he filed the complaint in his capacity as a Talisay City taxpayer and incumbent councilor.

Fernandez asked Deputy Ombudsman for the Visayas Paul Elmer Clemente to investigate Delos Reyes and hold him liable for withholding significant items in his SALN.
