SACRED Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) and Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) Team A renew their football rivalry as they forged a finals duel in the Cebu Liga 2002 football tournament after defeating their respective semifinal foes yesterday at the PAREF Springdale football pitch.
SHS-AdC edged host team PAREF Springdale, 2-1, with the latter scoring the first goal courtesy Gahum Pantinople’s corner kick.
SHS-AdC levelled the score at 1-all when its prized booter Ethan Deller found the back of the net at the 26th minute then formalized its finals entry with a goal in the fourth minute of the six-minute extension by Sydney Kamichi.
DBTC-A meanwhile, defeated fellow Bosconian squad, Don Bosco Boys Home, 2-1, in the other semis.
After a scoreless first half, Don Bosco Boys Home took the upperhand when Del Honor Maglasang scored from a penalty kick in the 46th minute. But DBTC-A was never to be denied as it scored twice on Yuan Reña’s 56th minute header and Paul Vincent Mapula’s 20-meter long goal in the 58th minute.
According to tournament director Dino Musni, the finals is tentatively set on March 12 at the same venue with Leg 2 to be hosted by DBTC next month.
This 11-aside tournament is organized by Unihydro Football Club.
