Radaza asks DENR: Run tests to my office first

LAPU-LAPU City Mayor Paz Radaza asked the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to first speak with her before disclosing the results of their bacteriology test on their coastal waters.

Radaza said several resort operators called her and expressed their concern that the findings may show high bacterial content on their waters, thereby affecting the city’s tourism industry.

She said contrary to the results of the bacteriology test by the Environment Management Bureau (EMB), the city initiated test conducted last week showed lower bacterial content in their waters.

Radaza said the Lapu-Lapu City Health Office collected water samples from ten resorts in the island and submitted these samples for testing to the Talisay Water Lab, a DOH accredited laboratory.

“We will send a representative to the EMB office this afternoon to check on their results and compare it with what we have,” she said.
