A FIRST year college student died he was run over by a Toyota Innova driven by a village chief along the curve path of barangay Binlod in Argao town, southern Cebu at past 1 pm Tuesday.

The victim identified as 19-year-old Cirilo Logdonio Jr., was a student of Cebu Technological School Argao town (CTU-Argao) taking up Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM).

Logdonio, a resident of Sibonga town, succumbed to fatal head injuries. PO2 Glenn Besande, desk officer of the Argao police, told Cebu Daily News by phone that Logdonio was headed to school when the accident happened.

The victim was trying to overtake a FUSO ten-wheeler truck carrying tons of fish driven by Eddie Pilo along a curve path when a passenger bus was heading towards the opposite direction to Cebu City.

“He was already on the other lane. When he went back to avoid the bus, he was sideswept by the truck’s rear portion,” Besande said.

As he fell on the ground Jovincio Egos, barangay chairman of Tulic, Argao town drove his van on the opposite side and accidentally ran over the victim, hitting his head.

Besande said both drivers were held in police custody but were later released last Tuesday after Logdonio’s family refused to file a case and opted for a settlement./Correspondent Apple Mae Ta-as
