Cebuano Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Eugene “El Torrero” Toquero lost to Brazilian Adrian Moraes in the co-main event of One Championships 39 held at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar last Friday night.

Toquero, a native of Alcantara town, south Cebu, suffered his third loss in 11 fights.

He was initially leading in the judges scorecards after hitting Moraes with accurate strikes. But he got caught by an anaconda choke, which forced him to submit in the 4:53 mark of the first round.

In the opening minutes, Toquero successfully landed big shots but Moraes  banked on his grappling prowess to take down the Cebuano fighter.

Toquero, still  able to defend himself on the ground, managed  to hit Moraes with punches.

Moraes took Toquero to the ground several more times before he perfectly executed an anaconda choke.  Toquero tapped out from the choke to give Moraes his 14th win in 16 fights.

The Cebuano MMA fighter was considered one of the top prospects in the flyweight division of One Championships before losing to the Brazilian black belt

Jiu-jitsu fighter. He is a former member of the Philippine Muay Thai team.

In the main event, hometown hero Aung La N Sang defeated Egypt’s Mohamed Ali via a submission through guillotine choke.
