Talisay City mayoral candidate and Vice Mayor Romeo Villarante supported One Cebu’s decision to endorse Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte in the presidential race.

“I am happy that finally Winston Garcia took a stand and chose Duterte. Kinsa iyang (Winston) presidente, mao sab akong presidente (Winston’s president is also my president),” he said.

Villarante, a member of the Nationalist People’s Coaltion (NPC), said this would now mean two groups are supporting Duterte in Talisay City.

Another mayoralty candidate supporting Duterte is Talisay City Mayor Johnny Delos Reyes, a local Liberal Party (LP) member.

Villarante said they are not bound to support NPC’s choice of Sen. Grace Poe. He said their local party in Talisay is semi-independent.  In their sample ballot, he said, they would bring the name of Duterte there to show their support to him.

“Duterte right now is experiencing a bandwagon effect kay grabe ang Bisaya population,” he said
