It’s still all systems go for the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) National Meet as games officially kick off today in Koronadal City, South Cotabato.
A mass participated by around 4,000 athletes was held prior to the grand opening ceremony of the multi-sporting meet yesterday afternoon at the newly improved South Cotabato Sports Complex.
Today will be the start of the games proper as athletes from Team Prisaa-7, composed mostly of Cebuanos, duke it out against the best in the country in the week-long tournament.
The University of San Carlos Warriors will represent Prisaa-7 in basketball while the combined powers of USC, University of Cebu (UC), University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) and University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) will make up the football team. In the medal-rich athletics, Prisaa-7 will field in 33 players while 24 tankers will vie in swimming.
The taekwondo team will be spearheaded by UC stalwarts Ma. Carmela Coran and Aila Marie Lepon in the women’s category and John Dominic Sedullo in the men’s division.
Southwestern University’s Android Tingson and Jhunna Francisco and UC’s Dexter Opalla and Aljun Pinote will also represent Prisaa-7 in badminton.
