Poro police chief shot dead

The chief of police in Poro town on Camotes Island, Cebu was killed in an ambush on Monday afternoon.

Senior Inspector Jonas  Tahanlangit died of gunshot wound in the neck, according to Senior Supt. Clifford Gairanod, Cebu Provincial Police Office Director.

Gairanod said Tajanlangit came from Cebu City where he attended a court hearing.

He said that based on report that he received, Tahanglangit arrived at the port in Poro and rode on a vehicle.

The police chief arrived in a port on San Francisco and was traveling to Poro when gunned down.

He said he was not sure of the exact time when the ambush happened because the police in Poro had yet to submit a complete report.

But he added operation was ongoing to hunt down the two perpetrators.
