A MAN wanted on drug charges was shot down by police after he opened fire at them in sitio Upper Oman in barangay Binlod, Argao town in southern Cebu at past 2 pm on Thursday.

PO3 Benjamin Gerosaga of the Argao police said Marlon Miñoza shot the policemen who tried to serve an arrest warrant to him at his home.

“He might have noticed the presence of the police and tried to escape. He shot one of our police officers but he missed, so they retaliated,” Gerosaga said in Cebuano.

Miñoza suffered fatal gunshot wounds on the chest and right arm. Police rushed him to the hospital but he failed to make it. The arrest warrant was issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 26 Judge Maximo Perez of Argao town.

Taken from the crime scene were one 9mm revolver with two bullets and an empty shell.
