TWO young men were killed while two others were injured when two motorcycles collided at 1:22 a.m. yesterday along Duterte Street, Banawa, Guadalupe, Cebu City.

The fatalities were identified as Klie Mark Mangitngit Galo, 22, of Tubod, Asturias; and Edcher Baritua Jr., 20, from Upper Gun Club, Banawa.

They were pronounced dead on arrival at the Cebu City Medical Center, according to traffic investigator PO2 Chady Jungoy.

Galo’s two backriders, Jimmy Libradilla, 28, from Talisay City and Emerjohn Amonsot, 25, from Barangay Tisa, Cebu City, were both wounded and brought to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

Galo was driving his Rusi motorcycle (GC-10867) with his two companions along Duterte Street going to Salvador Street, Labangon when he collided with Baritua’s Honda motorycle (GC-64674) from the opposite direction.

Because of the strong impact, they were all thrown into the pavement.

Joy Tumulak, operations chief of the Cebu City Transportation Office, said Galo was heading home to Sunrise Village, Pardo when the accident happened.

Tumulak said the two motorcycles were running too fast and they could not determine yet who between the two drivers had encroached a lane.

“Duna gyoy mikawat ana og linya pero di maklaro tungod kay nangalagpot man sila apil ang mga motor,” Tumulak said.

Tumulak said they have not talked yet with the two backriders of Galo to find out what really happened as they are still confined at the hospital. Asked if the victims were under the influence of liquor, Tumulak said he has yet to get the full result of the investigation.
