CEBU City Mayor Michael Rama has remained unfazed by criticisms about his distribution of new patrol cars to Cebu City police.
“Kanang opponent mo criticize man gyud na. Kung hiposon nang nangabot unya mataya, moingon dayon, ‘Mao na wala gihatag’ (Critics will always criticize. If I will not distribute the vehicles that arrived and this will become rusty, I also will be criticized for not distributing it),” Rama said of the 28 patrol cars — 10 Toyota
Fortuners worth P15 million and 18 Mitsubishi Adventures worth P18.45 million – that he distributed to the Cebu City Police Office last April 28.
Rama said that his intentions were clean when he gave the police cars and there should be no issues raised against it.
“No politics involved. Dagko na na sila diha (There’s no politics involved). That goes without saying. You know where to stand. Kabalo nana sila what to do,” Rama said to the Cebu City police on the distribution of the new police cars even as he reminded them to remain neutral during the elections.
Tomorrow (Monday), Rama is set to distribute another set of new patrol cars to the police after the flag-raising ceremony at Cebu City Hall.
Rama assured this will be an official presentation of all patrol cars for transparency and accountability to the public.
