Former Capitol security consultant Loy Madrigal admitted that he struck Medellin Mayor Ricardo Ramirez on the face, but it wasn’t because of politics.

Interviewed on the incident by the Bogo City police, Madrigal claimed that Ramirez hit him first.

“I was having my coffee outside my room at Gabrielle’s Court when I saw him and a younger female emerge out of another room,” he told reporters.

Madrigal said he has been staying at the lodging house for three days. The incident allegedly happened at 7 a.m. on Friday.

When Ramirez saw him, Madrigal alleged that the mayor approached him with “a look of aggressiveness on his face.” “I really don’t know his motive,” Madrigal said.

Madrigal said he turned on his phone’s voice recorder to record their conversation, but Ramirez allegedly called him out.

To avoid a fight, Madrigal said he backed away but Ramirez allegedly went after him and punched him on the left jaw.

He hit Ramirez back and the mayor fell to the ground. That was when he got on his car to leave, he said.

To his surprise, Mayor Ramirez was now on his feet and allegedly standing five meters away pointing a gun at him.

Ramirez allegedly fired one shot, hitting the door on the driver’s seat on the left side of the car. Madrigal said he immediately backed his vehicle up and hit a wall in his haste.

Madrigal alleged that Ramirez attempted to fire another shot. By then, Madrigal said he crawled out of his car through the passenger’s side and hid in the nearby bushes.

Ramirez allegedly got on his own car and left the vicinity when police personnel started arriving, Madrigal added.

One of Ramirez’s staff members at the Medellin Municipal Hall, who refused to be named, said he saw the mayor report to his office at 8:30 a.m. yesterday.

The staffer said he saw Martinez already had bruises on his face, but didn’t find out what caused it until he read the mayor’s post on Facebook.

He could not recall what time the mayor left the municipal hall. Since then, the mayor has been unreachable through phone and has only been communicating his sentiments through social media.

Madrigal said he will file complaints against the mayor for attempted murder and violation of the election gun ban.
