Rider beach volleyball tournament on May 20-21
THE COUNTRY’S top spikers are set to invade Cebu as they take part in the second annual Rider beach volleyball tournament on May 20-21 at the Green Lagoon Park in Compostela, Cebu.
The 10-team competition, which will feature teams from the Cebu Schools Athletics Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) and the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), will be part of the 2016 Ipanema Summer Sunscream music festival.
According to Tonyson Luther Lee of TSE Live, the producer of the Ipanema Summer Sunscream, they have included the Rider beach volleyball tournament to support the growing popularity of the sport and give the local teams an opportunity to compete against the best squads from Manila.
“We are bringing in teams from Manila to give our local teams a chance to play against these well-exposed and seasoned teams. This will raise the level of competition in beach volleyball in Cebu,” Lee said.
Heading the list of participants are the reigning champion team of White Sands of former Philippine Team player Jusabelle Brillo and Apple Saraum and CESAFI’s finest squads University of San Jose Recoletos (USJ-R), Southwestern University (SWU), University of Cebu (UC), University of San Carlos (USC), Cebu Doctor’s University (CDU) and University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF).
