A child playing with matches is believed to have started a fire which damaged at least six houses built inside the Vice Enterprises Compound along Tres Borces St. in Barangay Mabolo in Cebu City on Sunday morning.
Damages were pegged at P20, 000. The Mabolo fire happened a day after a huge fire killed seven people and damaged 80 houses in barangay Pahina Central.
Fire investigators said the Mabolo fire started at the shanty of Julito and Vilma Ricafort at 9:57 a.m. and spread to five other nearby houses mostly made of light materials. The fire was controlled 11 minutes later.
SFO2 Pier Angelo Abellana, arson investigator of the Cebu City Fire Department, said a four-year-old child under the care of the Ricafort couple was left at home when the fire broke. The child was said to be playing with matches, he said.
