At least P230,000 in cash believed to be intended to buy votes was turned over to the Malabuyoc Police Station on Sunday night.

Police Officer 3 (PO3) George Realista Jr., desk officer of the Malabuyoc Police Station, said the cash was found inside a bag reportedly thrown away in panic by two motorcycle-riding men in the mountain village of Salmeron.

Realista said that cash-filled bag was brought to the police station by Jigger Geverola, a resident of the village.

He said Gaverola narrated that he saw the two suspicious-looking persons on board a motorcycle at around 7 p.m. and tried to stop them. But instead of stopping, they threw down the bag that contained the money, three bundles of sample ballots and 30 pieces of 3-in-one coffee.

There were 400 pieces of P500 bills and another 300 pieces of P100 bills in different bundles.

Realista said the sample ballots contained the names of the national to local candidates but he refused to name them or reveal their political party as he was instructed by the town prolice chief not to reveal any information related to the identifies of those in the sample ballots.
