CORDOVA Vice Mayor Mary Therese Sitoy-Cho won the mayoral race but she had yet to be proclaimed after 400 voters of Barangay Gabi were unable to cast their votes last Monday.

Results of the canvassing of votes showed Cho receiving 16,542 votes over outgoing Provincial Board (PB) Member Arleigh Sitoy of PDP-Laban who garnered 5,098 votes.

Election officer Rafael Nolasco said he was still waiting for word from their central office on what to do with the remaining 400 voters.

The voters belong to clustered precinct 74a, 74b, 75a and 76b which received the ballots intended for Jolomaynan in Dalaguete town.

Nolasco said if the voters were allowed to cast their votes they could still change the standing of the council candidates.

The Cordova Board of Canvassers recorded a slim lead of 64 votes by candidate John Tan against Angel Gairanod before midnight Monday.

Tan, an independent candidate occupies the eighth spot while Gairanod of the Liberal Party is on the ninth spot.
