Loot wins Daanbantayan mayoral race

Retired police chief Vicente Loot is now the new mayor of Daanbantayan town in northern Cebu.

Loot was proclaimed winner in the election before noontime today after he won by only seven votes against incumbent Mayor Augusto Corro. He received 20,412 votes as against Corro’s 20,405 votes.

Now that the election is over, Loot said, he wanted to focus on his plans for their town located in Cebu’s northern tip. Corro claimed he lost to Loot because of harassment on his supporters by the retired police official’s people.

The outgoing mayor said he will consult with his lawyers to see if he can file an election protest against Loot.
