THE Provincial Board of Canvassers said there will be a delay in the proclamation of the governor in Cebu due to the uncanvassed votes in Santander and Malabuyoc towns.

Acting Commission on Elections (Comelec) provincial supervisor Eliseo Labaria said they will wait for the transmission of results from these two towns whose canvassing and consolidating system (CCS) machines bogged down.

“The basis for our proclamation is the transmitted results of the municipal board of canvassers. Until there’s no electronic transmission that will come in we cannot make any proclamation,” Labaria said.

He said the replacement unit will arrive this afternoon or later in the evening. Only then çan the Municipal Board of Canvassers reconvene and canvass the votes.

Labaria said the number of voters of both towns may still affect the standing of gubernatorial candidates Winston Garcia of the One Cebu party and incumbent Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III of the Liberal Party (LP).

The PBOC is also waiting on the transmission of results from Cordova town. About 436 voters in barangay Gabi, Cordova town were unable to vote after they received ballots intended for Dalaguete town. The PBOC will reconvene at 2 pm today.
