ALA Promotions International found a replacement to fight two-time world title challenger Milan “El Metodico” Melindo of the ALA Boxing Gym May in the “Pinoy Pride 36: Legend In The Making” on May 28 at the Saint La Salle Stadium in Bacolod City.
Melindo (33-2,12KOs) was initially scheduled for a rematch against his tormentor Javier “Cobra”Mendoza (24-3-1,19KOs) for a title eliminator of the IBF world light flyweight strap but the latter backed out after suffering a back injury during his training in Mexico earlier this week.
Replacing Mendoza will be Maximino “Max” Flores of Baja California, Mexico, who sports a record of 19 wins and two losses with 13 wins by knockouts. Flores won his last three bouts in Mexico.
Melindo and Flores will fight in a 10-round, non-title bout in the undercard of the fight card that features the world title showdown between WBO world light flyweight champion Donnie “Ahas” Nietes (37-1-4, 21KOs) and former world champion Raul “Rayito” Garcia (38-3-1, 23KOs) of Mexico.
