Mid-year bonus for Cebu City Hall workers in June

SOME good news for Cebu City Hall employees.

Their mid-year bonus along with the installment payment for the South Road Properties (SRP) loan were included in the proposed P6 billion budget for Cebu City this year.

Acting Cebu City Mayor Margarita Osmeña said the main priority for the revised annual budget would be the mid-year bonuses for City Hall’s 5,000 employees.

She announced in yesterday’s flag ceremony that the mid-year bonus which is equivalent to a one month salary would be released within this month and not later than June 30.

“(The revised annual budget) we are working on it now almost immediately. Hopefully we can submit it by Wednesday. We will try to make it as simple as possible. Even Councilor James Cuenco (who authored the resolution to return the budget to the executive department) asked it be made simple so they can understand it,” she said.

She said the maximum annual budget will be at P6 billion, not P9 billion as proposed by outgoing suspended Mayor Michael Rama since it won’t include the prepayment for the SRP loan.

“Certainly we will include the installment payments (for SRP) because that’s a statutory obligation,” she said.
