THE couple Roldan and Edalene Añosa filed a complaint at the Women’s Desk of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) against the doctors and staff of the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) on Wednesday for the death of their new born son early this month.

The couple asked the police to investigate their case.

Edalene was expected to deliver her son who they named John Niño last June 5 via caesarean section but was allegedly advised by hospital staff to try normal delivery.

She said she was scheduled for caesarean since her last ultrasound showed she had a breech baby and she was surprised by the hospital staff’s advice.

Edalene was asked to sign a waiver that says the hospital will not be held liable in case anything would happen.

Her baby was delivered feet first and was stuck inside her for a long time before the attending staff finally delivered him.

She was told her baby was in a critical condition and was brought to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where he later died in the afternoon.

Edalene had a miscarriage during her first and third pregnancy. Her second conceived child is now 12 years old. John Niño was the fourth conceived child.
