CEBUANA beach volleyball phenom Kate Chantal Rodriguez is eyeing a stint with the University of Sto. Tomas (UST) Golden Tigresses beach volleyball squad once she’s in college.

The University of San Carlos (USC) hard-hitter, who turned 16 last Friday, said fellow Cebuana and Golden Tigresses star Cherry Ann Rondina promised to help her make it into the team.

Rodriguez is still finishing her remaining high school years in USC.

In a chat with Compostela, Cebu-native Rondina, she said Rodriguez has the qualities of becoming the next big thing in the sport. But she also said Rodriguez needs to train harder to make her dream a reality.

“I know that if she trains harder she can reach that level. Well, it’s all about hard work and faith,” Rondina said.

While she’s appreciative of Rondina’s offer of support, Rodriguez is also not closing the doors on any offers from other schools. She said she is looking to join a school with better educational opportunities.
