Duterte’s ‘One Love’ concert at SRP seen to draw 50K
About 50,000 to 80,000 people are expected to attend the “One Love, One Nation” thanksgiving concert for President-elect Rodrigo Duterte’s election victory to be held at the Sugbo grounds in the South Road Properties (SRP) on June 25.
In yesterday’s 888 News Forum, event organizer Doris Mongaya said they expect a large crowd after Duterte’s staff confirmed to him that he will arrive to personally thank Cebu for delivering 1,022,805 votes to his candidacy.
Duterte received 726,559 votes in Cebu province and 296,246 votes in Cebu City to post a half a million vote edge against Liberal Party (LP) presidential candidate Mar Roxas.
Mongaya said their group #CALL4Change will launch its Cebu Alliance for Change with the signing of a commitment among parallel groups.
These groups will monitor the pro-people agenda that will be pushed under Duterte’s administration.
#CAll4Change is an alliance of parallel groups that campaigned for Duterte’s victory in Cebu. It was initiated by the Duterte Campaign Team under national campaign manager Jun Evasco.
The June 25 concert will be Duterte’s second visit to Cebu and the second thanksgiving celebration that he will attend.
Mongaya said the event is open to media but there will be no interviews.
Saturday’s celebration is divided into two parts. Mongaya said there will be a “Halad Pasalamat” at the Plaza Independencia where free medical and dental services, legal consultation and notarization will be offered at 9 a.m to 2 p.m.
The thanksgiving celebration will showcase 20 local and Manila-based performers.
