CEBUANO jins Dineson Cañeda, Sal Luigi Estrada and Nica Garces are stepping up their training for the 2016 Gyeongju Korea Open International Taekwondo Championships in Gyeongju, South Korea.

The three Cebu natives, who are products of the University of Cebu Taekwondo program, are now in Manila training with the coaches of the Philippine National Team in preparation for the international tournament slated June 30 to July 5.

Philippine Taekwondo Association Region 7 Director Tony del Prado said that they, together with teammates from the Philippine Team, will leave for Korea on Sunday evening.

Garces, who is now representing the National University (NU) Bulldogs in Manila, bagged a gold medal in last year’s competition.

The Palarong Pambansa gold medalist Estrada also salvaged a bronze in the tournament’s previous edition. He will make his debut in the seniors division this year. The 16-year-old Garces and Cañeda will vie in the juniors division.

All of them have been a part of the PH team for two years now.
