The province is on “blue alert” as tropical storm “Butchoy (international name Nepartak) makes its presence felt in the country early Tuesday evening.

Julius Regner, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (PDRRMO) information officer, said the blue alert status means they are monitoring landslide and flood prone areas as well as coastal areas for danger signs such as rising water level.

After Metro Cebu was hit with knee-deep floodwater, Regner said they reminded local governments in the province to monitor their situation and have their frontline emergency responders on standby for any eventuality.
