Recoleto de Cebu hoop set
FOUR top collegiate teams will test each others’ mettle in the 1st Recoleto de Cebu Basketball Cup slated on July 14 to 17 at the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Basak Campus Coliseum.
Set to do battle are host team USJ-R, University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers, University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers and University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors.
“Big events like this has to start somewhere,” USJ-R Assistant Athletic Moderator and organizer Ernest Vergara said in a press conference at the USJ-R main campus yesterday.
Though not sanctioned by Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi), the tournament will use Cesafi referees to officiate the games. The tournament will follow a single round robin with the top two teams after the eliminations battling for the title. The third and fourth seeds will play for third place.
UV will be mostly represented by its Team B players as the school is set to compete in another tournament in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay in the same date. The defending Cesafi champions Warriors will try to make a good impression under new coach Rommel Rasmo.
Tickets will be sold at P30 each.
