EXPERIENCING Cebu will never be complete without having to taste the city’s pride—lechon.

In giving tourists and locals an entirely different way of experiencing the world-famous Cebu lechon, The Mactan Newtown’s Mactan Alfresco brings its very own Lechon Pit.

Nestled just across the 350-seater covered dining hub, Mactan Alfresco’s Lechon Pit will enable foodies to witness firsthand the preparation of the freshly roasted pork dish from seasoning to roasting, before being chopped and served in plates.

The Lechon Pit can hold a maximum of 12 gastronomic lechons at a time. Mactan Alfresco’s concessionaires and Cebu’s top lechon-makers Ayers Lechon, Cebu Lechon Belly, and Ana’s Lechon will be roasting their palatable signature lechon dishes in the Lechon Pit.

“We believe that we have the best pork dish and the best lechon-makers in Mactan Alfresco. And what better way to showcase Cebu’s pride, the lechon, than giving the tourists an immersive experience, where they can see up-close what goes on in preparing the world’s best pork dish”, said Megaworld Senior Vice President and Head of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls Kevin Tan.

Tan also added that, more than exciting the public’s palates, they hope that through this Lechon Pit, more tourists will appreciate our national dish and will eventually help in promoting it to their fellow tourists.

Those who want to witness this unique gastronomic experience can visit Mactan Alfresco and enjoy live lechon roastings every Wednesday, and from Friday to Sunday, from 3PM onwards.
Mactan Alfresco is patterned after Singapore’s famed hawker centers nestled at Megaworld’s sprawling The Mactan Newtown township in Lapu-Lapu City.

Having 11 handpicked restaurants, Mactan Alfresco is not only the perfect destination for foodies, but also the ideal place to witness the famous Cebuano culture. Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 6:30PM – 8:30PM, witness colorful performances showcasing the best of Cebuano culture and tradition as you dine.
