2006 Fury, 2011 Elevens maintain spotless record in USC NABC

THE 2006 Fury and the 2011 Elevens continued their unbeaten runs after defeating their respective opponents in Division 3 action of the University of San Carlos North Alumni Basketball Conference President’s Cup last weekend at the USC North Campus gym along Mango Avenue.

The Fury easily disposed of the 2007 Waybus, 93-69, behind a balanced offensive attack led by athletic guard Justin delos Reyes who tallied 17 points.

Backing him up were Jig Paul Morales and former M. Lhuillier guard Giovanni Padillo, with 15 points apiece for the Fury, who notched their third win in a row.

The Elevens, runners-up in the last conference, also emerged victorious with a 79-55 rout of the 2004 Rebels.

Deadshot Anthony Romaguerra led the way for the Elevens with 16 points, wily guard Dave Guardiario added 12 while big man Lorenzo Bacaltos pitched in 10 for Batch 2011, who now share the top spot with Batch 2006 at 3-0 (win-loss).

The Rebels, however, bounced right back with a 60-56 win over the 2010 Pioneers to up their record to 2-1.

Lawrence Saballa exploded for 36 to outduel the Pioneers’ Julius Asotigue who scored 34.

In other games, the 2015 Samurais registered the biggest upset of the tournament so far as they grounded the defending champions 2008 Flyboys, 78-75.
