A suspected drug pusher died in a shootout with police at Sitio Cadanta Barangay Mactan at past 7 am Thursday.

Jomar Gomez, a resident of the area, died on the spot after he sustained several gunshot wounds.

Insp. Felix Cleopas III, deputy chief of the City Intelligence Branch (CIB) of Lapu-Lapu City, said they conducted a buy bust operation on Gomez who resisted and fired at the police several times.

Police returned fire and hit Gomez several times. Taken from Gomez were P75,000 worth of drugs, P200 in marked money, P650 cash, and one .357 revolver.

Police earlier went to Gomez’s house since he was listed in their watchlist for drug peddlers and users but he wasn’t there./Correspondent Norman V. Mendoza
