TWO suspected drug pushers in Mandaue City died after they resisted arrest in separate incidents in barangays Maguikay and Mantuyong a few hours ago.

John Paul Misterio, an 18-year-old resident of sitio Salvacion, barangay Maguikay died on the spot after sustaining gunshot wounds during a shootout with police.

Senior Insp. Janelito Marquez, chief of the Casuntingan police precinct, said a buy bust operation confirmed Misterio’s return to drug dealing two weeks after he surrendered to police.

Recovered from him were one loaded .38 revolver, 14 sachets of shabu, drug paraphernalia and P300 marked money.

In barangay Mantuyong, a 23-year old suspected drug pusher identified as Gilbert Maturan also died in a shootout at sitio Ihawan.

Chief Insp. Michaelangelo Beltran, head of the Centro police precinct, said their drug bust proved Maturan’s involvement in illegal drugs. Rather than surrender, Beltran said Maturan chose to shoot it out with police and died on the spot.

Taken from his possession were one revolver, P200 marked money and one small sachet of shabu.
