CEBU will continue to experience light to moderate rains even as Tropical Depression Carina developed into a tropical storm yesterday afternoon.

Carina has maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) with gustiness of 80 kph.

According to weather specialist Romeo Aguirre of the Philippine Atmostpheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), high sea surface temperature and a low vertical wind sheer contributed to the intensification of Carina.

The tropical storm is moving northwest of the country at 18 kph.

Certain areas in Eastern Visayas and Northern Luzon have been placed under public storm warnings.

Isabela is under storm signal number two while northern Samar, Cagayan, Babuyan Group of Islands, Apayao, llocos Norte, Aurora, Catandaunes, Camarines Sur, Albay and Sorsogon are placed under signal number one.

Cebu will continue to experience light to moderate rains until Monday. On Tuesday, Cebu will have sunny to partly cloudy skies.

Carina is now at 290 kilometers northeast of Catanduanes and is expected to take its landfall on Monday in Tuguegarao.

Carina is also expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Tuesday.
