Tech Mahindra clips QBE in E-League for Basketball
THE Tech Mahindra Tech Mighties surged atop the EVO League standings after they toppled the QBE Generalsm 61-47, in a battle of unbeaten teams last Sunday in the 12th City Sports Club-Cebu (CSC-C) E-League for Basketball at the CSC-C Gym.
EJ Saavedra fired 20 points and Jay Chris Entrampas added 10 points for the Tech Mighties, who now hold an impressive 7-0 (win-loss) card.
Christopher James Durango was the only General to score in double figures with 10 points — an offensive struggle that heavily contributed to QBE suffering its first loss after a 7-0 start.
In the other EVO League game, the Author Solutions Inc. (ASI) Hardbacks pocketed their fourth victory in six games by downing the Contact Solutions Flying Lemurs, 63-43.
Donald Stephen De Leon piled up 17 points to lead ASI, Benjamin Anthony Mosquera chipped in 10 markers, while Antonio Nocos Jr., Jonas Panerio and John Lorenzo Segarra each had nine markers.
Japeth Tuazon scattered 12 points and James Malalay had 11 for the Flying Lemurs, who crashed to their fourth defeat with only two wins to show.
In the Elite Classic, the ePerformax Reds used a 30-15 searing third quarter attack to flatten the erstwhile unbeaten Teleperformance All Stars, 79-72.
Nolan Dela Peña dropped 21 points, Robert Gilo tossed in 19 markers and Estom Cuizon donated 11 for the Reds, who climbed to 5-1.
Ryan Veloso tallied 14 points, James Lester Navaja collected 12 points and 13 rebounds in losing efforts as the All Stars succumbed to their first defeat after starting the season with four straight triumphs.
The Sykes Pioneers, on the other hand, scored one of the season’s most lopsided win after they bludgeoned the SSI Warriors, 113-63.
Neil Tariao, Sherwin Anghay, Rey Louie Lepardo and Robby Ruiz all finished in twin digits, combining for 48 points to lead the 50-point rout as the Pioneers climbed to 3-3.
Rex Alinson netted 21 points, Jose Carlo Amimita cashed in 12 and Alju Khan added 11 but the Warriors still couldn’t end their misery as they fell to 0-5.
