Fun run to help rebuild school clinic in Bogo
Multi-titled long distance runner Noel Tillor will hold a fun run in November 27 to raise funds for the rebuilding of a school clinic damaged by super typhoon Yolanda three years ago in the Don Potenciano Catarata Memorial National High School in Bogo City, northern Cebu.
The run, dubbed as “Team Alrights: Run for a Cause” will be held at the Parkmall in Mandaue City and will feature the 3-kilometer, 5k and 10k distances.
“We are in dire need of a school clinic because the school is very far from the main road and we need this clinic to monitor the nutrition and well being of our students,” said School Principal Ronnie Ranile in a press conference held yesterday at the Infinitea in City Times Square Mandaue City.
The school is located 600-meters away from the main road which is 5-kilometers away from the national highway.
Tillor, 30, a native of Bogo City who’s been an active running coach, tapped his students to organize the race. All of the proceeds of the running event will be given to the school to purchase medical equipment.
“Let’s support this running event as a running community here in Cebu. I call out everyone specially my students to help us make this race successful because your help will mean big to us,” said Tillor.
He also plans to donate his winnings in the National Finals of the 40th Milo Marathon on Dec. 4 in Iloilo City. He finised third in the Cebu qualifying leg of the Milo race.
The school has a special place in Tillor’s heart since Ranile is his high school teacher.
One of the running event’s technical officials, Danny Alfornon said that it’s also time to repay Tillor’s kindness for teaching them the fundamentals of running for free.
“We did not hire race directors or running experts for this run because we want to pay back everything coach Noel taught us. We, his students will handle this run,” said Alfornon.
Cash prizes will be given away to the winning runners in each distance while the finishers will get finishers medal and loot bags. Registration for the 3k is P350, P400 for the 5k and P500 for the 10k inclusive of the race bib, refreshments, finishers’ medal and shirt.
