PROMISES

A police chief is resigned to the fact that elective officials don’t fulfill their promises of better benefits to them.

He told reporters that he wished the government would not promise them anything until they can confirm it in order not to raise false hopes.

“Pero in-ana man jud guro na (But that’s the way it is). Promises are made to be broken,” he said.

ONE-SIDED CONVERSATION

A man who rode a jeepney recognized a girl who sat across him as an old acquaintance.

He immediately called the girl’s attention, and the girl reacted awkwardly. Undaunted, the man started a one-sided conversation.

Perhaps realizing that the girl wasn’t listening, he finally asked, “Wala na ka karemember nako (You don’t remember me)?”

Embarrassed, the girl answered yes.

CRAMPED

A female law student rode a cramped jeepney to reach her class in time.

She was trying to make herself comfortable when she noticed that the man beside her was grazing her thigh with his leg.

Annoyed, the student told him “Can’t you see that I’m almost falling off here? Could you please stop brushing your leg against mine?”

The man vehemently denied doing it and replied, “Pataka ra man ka. Kahilas gud nimo (You’re being presumptuous. You are so lewd).”

All the passengers fell silent as they stared at the student.
